dance

Khadima has been dancing since she was a child.  She took her first lesson, at age 9, while accompanying her mother during a belly dance class.  Since that day she has studied different styles of dance, but has always been in love with belly dancing. For more than 4 years Khadima has volunteered her time and money to teach belly dancing at her old high school. Her students were eager to learn, and put in extra time by staying after school. Khadima created a small group called ‘Malika’ that performed mostly for events in which the students could earn Community Serves hours.

Some of the teachers Khadima has studied under include: Kajira Djoumahna, Ellen Rose, Shoshanna, Jillian, Suhaila, Tiffany Bisconer. She also learned from good friend Kelsy Hiyakumoto, and they currently perform together, from time to time, in Berkeley CA. Some of the shows that Khadima has performed in are: Suhaila Salimpour's ‘Sheherezade’  in 2005, and with the amazing company ‘Velocity Circus’ in ‘Heliopolis’ in 2008 & 2009.

For info about booking gigs, teaching and/or classes please go to CONTACT page and send an email to Khadima. Other information regarding Khadima’s dancing can be found under MEDIA and EVENTS.

photography

Ever since I can remember, my father and great uncle Victor have always had cameras around. I loved doing ‘arty’ things with my mom, but found that I was becoming more drawn to photography as being a favorite part of those times. When my parents saw that I was interested in taking photographs, they helped me enroll in a photography class at the Santa Rosa Jr. College, while I was still attending high school. Shortly after that I began my first job with photographer David Ludwig, where I was able to use my new skills. This job sparked my interest in photography even more.

After high school I continued to study photography. In those classes I was able to find my own, personal way of viewing all my surroundings through the camera lens. I have worked for other photographers since that time and have learned different styles, as well as the business side of photography.

I view photography as a way in which every person involved gets to be creative, those in front of the camera as well as those behind it. I want to show the world what and how my subjects feel, at any given time. If those personas they create are: crazy, naturally beautiful, artistic, musical, free spirited, all the better! Just being a part of that interchange is exciting and wonderful!
